We had LAS testing again and grammar exercises in the last few weeks. Compared to last LAS test before this time it was much easier. Through LAS testing I have noticed my English have improved a lot compared to beginning of the school year. However I have seen some questions that are still confusing. In order not to have those confusing questions I will study those questions and get it right next time.
Grammar exercise we did in class time was very challenging; it contained many difficult questions thatconfused me during the quiz. Since I know the URL for this website, from now on I think I will go there every day and do at least on practice test a day.

This is my sixth and last LAS test, and form doing it, I can see how my English skill is improved in the past two years. Although I don’t know the result of my test yet, I can still feel that I did a much better job than before. After all, it has been about three years since I came to the Philippines, and there is a big difference on my English skill between now and before. Back then, I couldn’t even make a proper sentence. But now, at least I don’t have any problem on dealing with my subjects at school.

About quiz, my opinion is that it is quite difficult, especially for the part of conversation. The conversation in English is always my biggest problem. I never knew what kinds of preposition I should use for some specific verbs. If I didn’t do some practices at home, my quiz result would be much more terrible. Right now, I still need do lots of practices on this section of grammar in order to make myself to handle some important tests such as SAT.

The LAS test that we just did was my last one in my life. I feel that I did okay on that test. I think the test can somehow show my English level right now because the test include speaking, listening, reading and writing, which are the four aspects of language skills. However, I don’t think the test result can fully show the actually English of me because many factors can affect the results. If I compare the result from this test to the previous LAS test I did, I’m able to see whether my English has improved or not. The grammar quizzes that I did today were a bit more difficult, there are many phases and vocabularies that we need to know. I think I can do better if I keep practicing doing those quizzes so that I can improve my grammar skills.

In writing proficiency class, I had a LAS test and grammar quiz. I think I tried my best to get better result. The LAS test and the grammar quiz were a bit easy. The LAS test easier than last time. I’m satisfied with what I have done even if my result is worse than last time. I hope I can get the grade I’m expecting. By taking the quiz and test, I learned that I must work harder and study more.

It is my last year of taking LAS test. As an ESL student, the test was able to evaluate my level of English. I hope my Engligh has been improved compared to last two years and I will study harder for it. Even though LAS test seemed to be a boring test, I still think that it is useful for us. Since they are asked the basic skills of English, the students can have drawbacks from it. We are not native speakers so we often make a lot of mistakes in every section of English. To prevent minor mistakes, LAS test is very helpful. It allows us to identify our limitations. Overall, I enjoyed taking LAS test and I am sure that it has helped me a lot to improve my English.

The grammar exercise was fun and interesting. I was confused with some exercises especially on prepositions. I was able to discover my weakness and strength. Since I figured out my weaknesses, I will study hard to improve and develop my skills in English. Even though I speak fluently, I am always confused with grammar. It is the weak point for many ESL students. Therefore, I believe that when we do written tasks, we should always pay attention to grammar. We also have to remember our mistakes and do not forget them.

> LAS & Grammar quizzes reflection

After taking Grammar quizzes, I noticed that my weakest area is particles in conversation. I’m good at connectors because I got 100 percent, but subject verb agreement and verbs should be improved. I know the basic rules of subject verb agreement and verbs, however, some sentences like ‘Neither students and teachers ______ the questions’ confuses me sometimes beause in this situation, I should choose ‘have’ or ‘has,’ which I’m often confused with. Also, I need to improve preposition. It was good opportunity to know what I have to improve, and it was very interesting.

Also, this year’s LAS test was my last test. Although the questions on LAS test are same every year, I’m sometimes confused with some questions especially with vocabulary. I alsways think that I should memorize more vocabulary words, so this summer vacation, I’m going to memorize more words and improve my writing skills. For the speaking section, I think I did some mistake because speaking is also one of my weakest points like vocabulary. In order to improve my speaking and vocabulary, I realized that I should study harder than this. I will improve my weak points so that I can get 100 if I have any chance to take this test again.

LAS & Grammar quizzes reflection

Writing proficiency D block had the last LAS test this week. I did not have any problem solving the questions because I was so familiarized with the questions for the LAS test unlike last year’s. I was confidence in every sections of the test.
After LAS test, our class had grammar quiz in a4esl.org to test our grammar ability. It was hard for me to look at computer screen for a long time but I still managed to solve questions. Grammar quiz made me realized that I was weak in grammar and vocabulary even though I thought I was good. So, I realized that I had to start studying Grammar and vocabulary in order to write a good paragraph for this year and next year. Other than grammar and vocabulary, I think I did well such a s connectors, verbs, subject and agreement and particles in conversation.

The LAS test that I took last week or should say this week was my third LAS test in my life and I pretty sure that it will be the last one as well. Although it was the third time that I took it, however I was still really nervous and excited about it. Since the test examines about my English skills in different aspects, reading, writing, listening and speaking, this means that through the test I can know my current English skill level, how I can improve and toward what subjects, skills, and aspects. This made me to take really seriously about the test and it also motivated me a lot as well. Since it shows me the current English level that I’m belongs to, and I was also just about to wander about my achievement and development in my English skills throughout my hard work on this year, therefore I felt that it was a really great chance for me as well. I tried really hard on this test. However, on the other hand, I don’t think I exhibited myself perfectly through this test. There are many different factors that could actually affect on my performance at the LAS test. For example the anxiety, the nervousness and even the excitement as well. I also consider that just through a LAS test, it won’t show any inner aspects of me. The realities of my English skills or levels are not able to shown just through this one single LAS test, but it is showing throughout the dairy works or performances that I show in all of my other subjects.

On the other hand, the grammar quizzes that I took today I found was much harder than the LAS test. It also included some words or phrases that I even never heard of before. Through this experience, I realized that there is no such things called ‘goal’ in learning languages. The only thing that language learners aim for is for a higher level, a higher skill and a higher technique on the language that they are learning. The only ‘goal’ that every language learner is for a better education and development to themselves.

I took LAS test and grammar quiz last week in writing proficiency and it is very good. The LAS test I took is easy now unlike other LAS before. The reading section is good but I don’t like writing and speaking so I have to practice. I think my English has improved because I have been taking ESL for three years and I am learning a lot of English skills. I think I can still improve better if I study harder. This is my last LAS and I am happy. In the grammar quiz I think I did a good job because I got 100% in connectors but I still have to be good in grammar and vocabulary. There are some difficult parts in the grammar quiz but I think I did well.

Reflection on LAS & Grammar Quizzes

We had LAS test and Grammar quizzes over 2weeks. LAS test was the test I have been taking for years. I could even memorize the questions. It was much easier for me to do the last LAS test. However I had a problem in speaking. I couldn’t understand one question so I couldn’t answer. That was really unexpected. Although I was happy because it was my last LAS test.

We had new grammar quizzes this time. The grammar exercises were fun and interesting. We had quiz on Connectors, Grammar and vocabulary, Particles in conversation, Subject verb agreement and Verbs. It was new so I could really test my grammar skills. I really did well on connectors and verbs, 100%. However, my weakness was grammar and particles in conversation. I think this grammar quizzes gave more accurate result of my grammar skills. I think ESL students are lack in grammar and the quizzes help ESL students to develop their use of grammar.:)

The LAS test that I had last week was easier than the previous one. I felt that I am getting better with my English skills on this test. However, I felt harder on the grammar quiz that I have just done. The quizzes were in the category of difficult. I got eight-eight percent in total. To know the percentage of my score told me what I am weak at. I still poor at the subject-verb agreement and conjunction. Since it is already the end of my junior year, I feel very upset. This directory told me to put effort harder. LAS test that I had had always the same questions. Therefore, I think I could feel easier. However, I am still not enough as an English-speaking-student. I will use the website that has quizzes and work hard as much as I can. These two tests were very useful to know what and how I need to improve my English skills.

The LAS test was ok. I think I did pretty well on it, since I was able to answer all questions with some kind of certainty. However, for some questions, I was still not sure meaning that it took time for me to answer for particular. I also learned that I am still weak in vocabularies. I guess the only way to solve this problem would be to read more books. And I hope I’ll see a significant improvement compared to last year, because the main purpose of this course was to increase my level of English.
