In my opinion, I have successfully finished the assessment of applying the Big 6 to a task from your core subjects within the given amount of class time. Although I have finished the assessment from my core subject already before I even start doing the task, however I still found that the ‘The Big Six Model’ was really useful. Because by doing the ‘Big 6’, it not only increases the efficiency and impression of my writing and the essay itself, but also let me to rethink and improve the quality of the essay as well.
At the beginning of the task, I didn’t know what is the purpose for me to this task since I have already finished the assessment even before the task starts, however by doing this task, I learned not only the importance of using ‘The Big Six Model’ once again, but also gain many new ideas and thoughts. While I was doing the task by complete each of the Big 6 Stages efficiently, I also find some places that I could improve next time when I’m writing this kind of similar essay as well. I think this will be really helpful for me to study for the exam next year and for me to have a better understanding about the information as well.
All in all, I think ‘The Big Six Model’ was a really helpful and useful technique in order to write a good and impressive essay not only this time, but also in the future as well. I will use ‘The Big Six Model’ whenever I have to write an essay because I think it’s really helpful and useful for my writing and at the same time for my future development as well. I’m really glad and proud of that I could be able to master ‘The Big Six Model’ so quickly and to be able to use it really smoothly. However, next time when I’m using the Big 6, I hope I can carry it out more smoothly and quickly so I can have my work done more efficiently and have more time to check my work as well in order to prevent from making any silly mistakes such as spelling and grammar errors for example.

Today I have successfully finished my outline of the business internal assessment proposal. We have done many tasks using the Big 6 research model but this is the first time that we apply it in assignment from other classes besides English. I chose to use the Big Six to help with my Business task, which is writing a commentary for a real business. I feel that I have done it very well. The use of Big Six actually makes the task easier to do. I was very clear about what to do for each step of the task. It would be definitely time consuming to look for information randomly on the internet. We had a few class to work on this so I feel that enough time was given to do this task and I used the time well. The final product was well done because I got all the information I was looking for and I selected the ones that I need.
In this task, students researched and re-did one of their assessments that they had already done. For me, I did business Internal Assessment proposal. At first, I did not have any plan what to research and where to research. However, when I used this BIG 6, it was much easier and faster to find the useful information that I needed to put in the business IA proposal.
I first had confusion because it was not our usual way of doing the BIG 6. For usual BIG 6, there is a given topic that I have to find. However, I think I successfully did my business Internal Assessment proposal by using proper BIG 6. It is because I found better information that I supposed to find for the real business proposal. As usual, I completed all the BIG 6 stages efficiently and did what I was required to do.
At the first stage, I was having a hard time selecting my proposal question. My previous question was not broad but there were not enough internet resources that I could find because it was about my father’s company. Therefore, I chose to research about Starbucks and Café Pascucci. It was much easier to find enough information and article as well because those are the famous coffee brewing companies compete in economic crisis. Other than the first stage, there was no problem using the BIG 6.
If I do this type of BIG 6 again, I would go ask business and management teacher first. After deciding my question, I would start researching. So, I would know what to find and where to find.
EVALUATION
In my opinion, to be honest, I was distracted by art exhibition while I was doing the assignment. Since I was tired, I could not use my class time wisely. So, I got one-day extension. Still, I think my work is successfully done.
This time we had an assignment about using Big 6 with other subject. My core subject was art. I used my Art Internal Assessment, sketchbook, which is an assignment will be given last week of May. I think it was an unusual choice comparing to the others. Usually, others don’t relate art with writing. However, I tried to find a connection between them. Usually, when I did Art IA, It took too much time and it was not really organized. However, by using big 6, I took me little time to spend working on it. I think it was because I am so used to using Big 6 model and Big 6 is really a great procedure to investigate and produce work.
I truly believe that Big 6 is the best way of producing a good work.

Evaluation
The Big 6 Model is a useful way of researching data which we have been using since the end of the last semester. However, this is the first time that I really apply these methods to my core subjects. Back then, the only time I went through the Big 6 Model step by step was doing the assessments for Writing Proficiency, but this time, the Big 6 Model was used on my Economic project.
This Economic project is about analyzing the economic condition of a country. In this project, I needed to find the data of the real gross domestic product and the population growth rate of China, and I also needed to search for the possible reasons that caused the figure. Since that this project involved a lot of researching, I believed that it is a perfect opportunity to use the Big 6 Model. And as I expected, the Big 6 Model did enhance the quality of my work. By going through the first three processes of the Big 6 Model, which are task definition, information seeking strategies and use of information, I could narrow the possible information sources and select the critical information that I needed for the project. The process of synthesis is also very useful. It helped me organize all the information I obtained and therefore the paragraphs I wrote could become more fluent. With the help of the Big 6 Model, I believe that I wrote a decent piece of work.
I also think that there isn’t any obvious flaw in this task. Unlike the other times, which we often didn’t have enough time to work on our stuffs; I believe that the time given this time is very sufficient.
There might be more opportunities in the future which we will need to apply the Big 6 Model to the assessments which are not for Writing Proficiency, so it is really nice since this task can help me gain more experiences on applying the Big 6 Model to my core subjects.
This assignment was about improving my assignment from other class using big six steps. I chose my wellness project. It was making brochure about sexually transmitted diseases. When I was doing the assignment in wellness class, I didn’t use big six steps. I just collected information from different websites and just organized them in the brochure. The brochure was organized, but my process was not organized. I couldn’t cite all the websites that I used and I didn’t know where my information was. However, this time, the whole processes of doing the assignment were very organized. I was able to cite all my websites. And I organized my information in word document, so I was able to find the right information right away. Even though I didn’t make the final copy of the brochure, I’m sure that this brochure is much more informative and organized. I couldn’t use all the information I collected because since it is brochure I wanted to keep the texts short and simple. Maybe I could have improved on the assignment by reorganizing the information. Some parts of my information are very similar. So by making something to make them much easier to see such as a table, I could have organized the brochure in better way.
Evaluation:
In this major assignment I had to re organize the outline of my work that I have done before. I choose my research paper from my history class. My topic was: How did Korean War affect ordinary Koreans?
By doing this assignment I was able to find more ideas to write on the esay. This is because I outlined my work by doing Big six model, it organized my goal more clear by doing the first step “Task definition”. Also, by doing my second step “Information Seeking Strategies” I was able to know where to find my information. Since I know where to find information step “Location and Access and use of information was easy to complete” I think in step five “Synthesis” was the step where it took me most of the time. In this step I had to plan my essay in outline form and write my essay. This part was the part where it took me most of the time.
I think my work has been successfully done, I worked hard in most of my class time that was given and I took time to finish this assignment. However, since my work was too long I wasn’t able to have much peered editing as I could. If I had more peer editing I think I could have done better work.
In this time, we applied the Big6 research model to our academic subject. Since I am preparing to write the Business commentary, I decided to do researching related to my commentary. Firstly, I had to define the task and unpack through the use of detailed mind mapping. I also identify all relevant topics and questions that need answering. Then, I moved to the next step which was identifying the possible sources. Using the brainstorming method, I found all the possible sources that I can get the information. Among several sources, I chose the best source for me which was the internet. Then, I actually accessed in the internet and I gathered all the data. It was hard to find the most recent data but I could find a lot of news articles and some documents. After I collected all the information, I extracted the actual content that I will use for the commentary. So, I highlighted the important or significant parts and I moved on the next step which was the synthesis. In this step, I analyzed and outlined the gathered information. Through writing up the well organized outline, I was able to understand more about my task.
Honestly, I am now used to do researching with Big6 model. As I use it, I feel it is very useful method. I can apply this model to any other subject for researching. Through working on the 6 steps, I can be thoughtful about my task. Each step requires me to think deeply about the task and I can more focus on what I am working. In every single subject, there are a lot of research papers that have to be done. In the future, I will still use Big6 to research and it will be useful. Learning Big6 model was really efficient and beneficial to improve my personal skills. Since I feel comfortable using big6 model, I can now do quicker than before. However, I can still have more improvements and developments. Since I am now used to research through the internet, I want to try other sources such as interviewing or surveying. These are difficult methods but I want to try if I have enough time to collect the relevant data. In my opinion, my current product is good enough to show relevant information about the task. However, I want to get the most recent data. Therefore, it was our last assessment in the writing proficiency class and I felt proud of myself. I have learned a lot of useful skills for further studies and I probably use those methods efficiently.
> Using the ‘Big 6′ for a task from your core subjects.
For this task, the core subject that I use Big 6 for was Business and Management. In Business and Management, I have to complete the IB Internal Assessment, written commentary. Therefore, using Big 6 model, I’m going to research some information for the written commentary.
First, I clearly stated the research question, which is ‘Should Hyundai Motor raise its payment for employees to increase productivity and motivation in Comapny?’, then brainstorm what I want to find and the possible sources that can be used for researching (Task Definition and Information Seeking Strategies). Then, I made MLA format for possible sources that I have found, which are internet and library, and highlight some information that I am going to use for the commentary (Use of Information and Location and Acess). After highlighting the important parts, I wrote first outline. After peer editing the first outline, I read it again and fix some grammar mistake. Then, I wrote the final draft.
It was very good assignment since it helps me to find secondary sources, which refers to sources from internet, articles, books, etc. Also, since I could find relevant sources through Big 6 steps, I didn’t waste any time to write the outline. I have done Big 6 model efficiently, and I’m sure that this model will be helpful for every subject whenever it needs some research.
The writing assignment using the Big6 skills is good way to practice writing and help us with our core subjects. I chose IB business and management class for this project because I am writing an internal assessment proposal. I think I followed all the big6 stages properly and I did very good job at the task. I came up with a good research problem and idea for my research after organizing all the information I gathered about my IB business class internal assessment proposal using the big6 skills. Even if I think I did good job I sometimes have hard time when it comes to big6 skills so sometimes I ask my classmates for help. I know I can still improve doing my research by looking for more sources for my topic which is LG and their green project for mobile industry. But the results of my internal assessment proposal are already nice. Actually my business teacher asked me to rephrase my first research problem and using the big6 skills I did it and I think now it is good. I followed all the stages of big6 and asked questions if I don’t understand something.
I think my internal assessment proposal for my IB business class is now better because I used big6 skills. I learn to research more using big6 and it improved my work. My assignment is successful because of the big6 skills. I did what I need to do for proposal using big6 skills and I also complete each stage of big6 skills efficiently. Next time if I have project in my other core subjects I will use big6 skills.
